Annette Schachner

Annette Schachner received her B.F.A. from Aldephi university in New York and began her career as an art teacher at both the middle school and university levels. Eventually, the urge to create led her out of the classroom and back into the studio. She has dabbled in various media, working as a potter, painter, and print-maker, but her greatest passion is for making jewelry out of fine silver.
Annette's unique, hand-made pieces of jewelry are formed using a malleable compound of fine silver (.999 pure). Each piece is then kiln-fired, during which it sinters into a solid piece of fine silver. It is then hand-polished and, in many cases, a patina is applied to create depth and color.
Annette's work reflects her love of the exotic, incorporating elements of Eastern, Meso-American, and African iconography, along with images from the natural world. Her open, unaffected designs convey feelings of peace and tranquility to the wearer and communicate the unity of all things.
